One Small Organic Garden
Welcome! Our company and our customers, are on an endless path of discovery. Connecting back to nature inspires us to all live better lives. It all started with one small organic garden and a desire to efficiently grow the highest quality and most abundant organic food, in the smallest footprint possible. Just two 30" x 16' raised cedar beds, is where our story begins.
My name is Ryan Capinski, Founder and CEO of The Bio Soil Company, or TBSC for short. Our team, along with my loving wife Katie, son Liam and daughter Maddie, operate this growing family-owned business. Within a tiny home garden, a passion to understand how to organically grow the best food for our family was born. After years of dedicated research, everything led back to the soil. Building, maintaining, and nurturing a regenerative soil ecosystem facilitates the ideal growing environment for optimized plant expression. As ranchers, or custodians of soil life, we strive to take care of the soil, so the soil will take care of us.
Organic Abundance #GrowYourOwnFood
A healthy soil is a living soil (FAO, 2015).
Biochar Machine
A fateful meeting with Bob Wells, owner of New England Biochar, the inventor of this biochar machine, sparked a partnership to manufacture and offer this incredible product to customers throughout the United States. This machine multi-functions to produce biochar/charcoal, grill, bake pizzas and can be used as a smokeless fire pit in two different configurations.
There are billions of organisms in every handful of healthy living soil (SARE, 2021).
NAUT
Curiosity into organic cannabis production and product testing led to a second year trial of this beauty pictured here. This randomly selected Type III predominant CBD cultivar, Interstellar, was planted within our families garden bed. Following our overwintered garlic and interplanted within tomatoes, carrots, soy bean, summer squash, sunflowers, and bee balm, this plant produced an inspiring 27% total cannabinoid expression and 39 ounces of absolutely gorgeous hemp flower. A deeper dive into the world of CBD began on the momentum of this successful research; eventually leading to NAUT and the launch of our first commercial hemp operation, The Ranch at Sunset, located at one of Pennsylvania's top destination breweries, Sunset Hill Brewing Company located in Gilbertsville, PA.
Quorum sensing: the regulation of gene expression in response to fluctuations in cell-population density (Princeton, 2001). The human gut micro-biome, an important regulator of the immune system amongst others, not only benefits from increased biological diversity, but requires a minimum said population, or quorum, in order to be useful. Therefore, a consistent diet diverse in plants, help feed your micro-biome, sustain quorums, and is essential for bacterial gene expression. This was one of the fundamental breakthroughs in my understanding of the true importance and connection between organic diets rich in plant diversity and human health. This is why my family is growing not just 35 crops, but over 85 varieties of said crops.
